Significant progress is being made in energy storage projects across China to support the new power system:
- Hubei Province: The first 100MW-level "grid-forming" energy storage power station in Central China (Qunxi Energy Storage Power Station) was successfully connected to the grid on March 30, 2026. This project aids in building a "three-type, three-strong" power grid in Hubei.
- Guangdong Province: The first unit of the Huizhou Zhongdong Pumped Storage Power Station has completed the concrete pouring for the generator layer, marking a transition to the installation phase. This project is crucial for the safe operation of the power system in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
- Zhejiang Province: The No. 4 construction branch tunnel of the Qingtian Pumped Storage Power Station has been completed, accelerating the underground engineering construction for this key hydro-electric project.
